Position Purpose
The opportunity is with a very highly regarded clean energy firm based in Southern California.  The preferred candidate will have experience with power generation equipment and ancillary systems such as controls, pumps, heat exchanger, boilers, compressor, steam generation, energy storage or absorption chilling. Up to 50% primarily domestic and international travel and the successful candidate can work from a virtual office location anywhere in the US, but preferred to be located in Southern California.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Duties include implementation and assessment of strategic plans and execution of sales promotion and marketing activities to meet sales objectives
  • The responsibility of the Sales Engineer job is to achieve maximum sales profitability, growth and account penetration within an assigned territory and/or market segment by effectively selling the Company’s products and/or related services
  • Budget responsibilities include management of sales expense and sales margins to meet profit objectives
  • Personally contacts and secures new business accounts/customers, while ensuring customer satisfaction along with high standards of product and service delivery
  • Develops and grows business focusing on add on accessories to the primary packaged power generation product lines in the assigned territory developing strategic plans and sales/marketing activities to meet sales objectives
  • Assist in development and administration of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the sales department with the company strategic goals associated with these accessories
  • Manage accessory sales, budget or plan including sales margins to meet profit targets and maximum sales profitability
  • Interface with vendors, distributors and customers developing business opportunities and business relationships
  • Prepare response to Requests for Proposals developing clear proposals/quotations for current and prospective customers
  • Working to establish strategic relationships with vendors to drive sales.
  • Proactively assess market requirements and clarify and validate customer satisfaction
  • Conduct and develop product training for all new and existing distributors
  • Create educational material for our business partners and end-users in the form of application guides, whitepapers, and training presentations that clearly describe proper application of accessories
  • Review the accuracy of technical documentation to support of  the company's accessories
Required Education and Experience
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment where growth and professionalism will be achieved largely through creativity, high integrity, reasoned and thoughtful judgment, sense of urgency, a balance between strategic and tactical skills and a willingness to “roll up the sleeves”
  • Ability to think strategically and deliver tactically
  • Knowledge and experience in and power generation installations.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% both domestic and internationally
  • Solid networking and negotiation skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in MS Office suite
Required Education and Experience
  • BS Degree in Engineering Electrical or Mechanical
  • Minimum 4 years Sales experience in the Power Industry related to Power Generation and Gensets preferred
  • Experience with controls, pumps, heat exchanger, boilers, compressor, steam generation, energy storage or absorption chilling is a strong plus
  • Experience from a construction and / or Project Management is a plus
  • Solid networking and negotiation skills
